About
A chemical engineering capstone, turned into a startup.
The story so far
RenewBlocks started inside a Chemical Engineering program at Baku Higher Oil School, where three waste streams kept turning up in local industrial data — shredded plastic, incinerator ash, and limestone quarry dust — none of them with a clear second use nearby.
The first lab formula came out of coursework and independent testing. It placed second at BHOS's 7th International Student Research Conference in April 2026, moved into the AIM YETI startup program that summer, and is now running as a SOCAR capstone project.
The idea is deliberately narrow: not a load-bearing block, not a replacement for every kind of masonry — a specific product for interior partition walls, built from material that's already local. We're at an early stage. The lab formula is validated; a full-scale block hasn't been produced yet.
Team
Three named people. No filler roles.
Ziyad Shiraliyev
CEO / Founder
Chemical Engineering, BHOS/SOCAR (Group 24.2). Leads formula development, lab testing, and the business side of the project.
Farid Valimammadov
COO / Co-founder
BHOS/SOCAR. Handles supply chain, logistics, and B2B customer discovery.
Rima Guliyeva
Academic Supervisor
BHOS faculty. Oversees methodology and standards guidance.
This is the full team as of August 2026 — no placeholder roles. We'll list anyone new here once they're actually on board.
Roadmap
Where we've been, where we're headed.
Lab formula validated
Solid lab specimens tested for compressive strength. 2nd place at BHOS's student research conference; AIM YETI and SOCAR Capstone participation.
Cure optimization & standards filing
Lab batch testing to lock the cure parameters, alongside filing for the AZS 418-2010 Azerbaijan wall-stone standard.
Sumgait pilot
First full-scale hollow block production runs, with independent lab testing on the actual commercial block.
First deliveries, then certification
Private residential projects don't require AZS certification, so early deliveries can start there. Certification and larger contracts follow.
